Cold Combatant: The War On Boredom

Break. The phrase sends shivers down our spines, an effect due to more than the plosive sound (looking at you, Mr. Ginn). Break is the time where we can regroup with ourselves, our parents, our friends. We can take a step back and assess our academic state. We can go to the movies, go skating, sleep in. We can also eat.

A lot.

But after about the second day (or second hour, if you’re anything like me), you get restless. Your home begins to look more like a prison. The bed is both a solace and a cage. You begin to look forward to sleeping more than anything, not out of exhaustion but boredom.

This is when the theme music starts. Call me the Cold Combatant, the Media Monarch. The Currently-Out-Of-Creative-Titles-Cacophony. I’m here to bring you all your media needs, and arm you against the frigid caress of boredom as it attempts to seize your neck (carpe collum, if you will) this holiday season.

Below, I have gifted you with a merry host of recommendations for your viewing pleasure. Together, we’ll give this winter restlessness a break of its own.

There it is, guys. Here is the peak of my media magic. Please note that I have done my best to ensure the appropriateness of these recommendations but it is, ultimately, the decision of the student and the parent on whether any particular book, tv show, anime, movie or artist listed here is right for them. WIth that being said, what are you waiting for?
